Barrel-Aged Amber Ale (Homebrewing Recipe)

Homebrewing recipe for barrel-aged Amber Ale with strong oak aromas and a smooth, full-bodied taste. Perfect for enthusiasts of rich, boccato beers using Oak chips.

Ingredients for 23 liters:

  • 1 can Royal Oak Amber Ale Morgan's

  • 1.5 kg Muntons Amber liquid malt

  • 200 g dextrose monohydrate

  • 40 g medium toasted Oak chips (make a decoction 15 min, filter solids, use liquid as wort)

Yeast: Liberty Bell Ale M36 or WHC Old English
Priming: 5 g/l

Instructions:

  1. Prepare a 15-min decoction with Oak chips.

  2. Filter solids and use liquid as wort.

  3. Add Amber liquid malt and dextrose.

  4. Ferment with M36 or WHC Old English yeast.

  5. Bottle carbonate with 5 g/l sugar.
