Comet hops are an American variety developed by the USDA in 1974 to meet the demand for higher alpha acid production.

With an alpha acid range of 9.4% to 12.4%, Comet provides a strong bitterness along with a distinctive herbal and citrusy aroma, making it ideal for American-style ales.
